I tried a cannoli for the first time yesterday. It was light, fluffy, a real delight. I’m not sure why I was so drawn away from it before. I thought the cheese filling would be too heavy…the filling always looked so generous. Perhaps I was hungry. Nevertheless, I ate the whole thing. I bought it and went into my car and tried it. I started eating and driving. It was filled with chocolate on the inside, surrounding the ricotta. The ends were dipped in chocolate and covered with chocolate chips. The pastry was fried and chilled, like the crispy surface of a turnover. Really want to try a thin crust cannoli. There must be something like it, like a cronut to the donut. A CRONOLI.
